Microsoft is currently under investigation by US authorities for suspected bribery and corruption linked to software sales in Hungary.
According to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating how Microsoft can sell its software such as Word and Excel to Hungarian brokerage firms with large discounts.
The report said brokers sold the programs to government agencies there in 2013 and 2014 at a price close to the full price. Investigators are looking into whether brokerage firms use teams to pay bribes and commissions to government officials, the Wall Street Journal reported. On the order so far.
